Greece kids on our way back!

After two outstanding days in Athens, we are all on our way back. We got to see the Parthenon, the national museum, and the many Roman and Greek ruins around the famous city. Four of the boys went on a trek to find one of the most famous sandal shops in all of Europe, where we got to meet Pantalis, a third generation sandal artisan. We watched him create our sandals from leather straps, nailing everything into place right there on the spot. This morning we had a 3am wake up and arrived at the airport by 4:45. We are about to Board our plane to Paris where we will have a 3 hour layover, then it is the long haul back to America. See you soon!

Greece Trip 2 Day 8

Today we woke up to another fantastic day in Crete, but sadly it was our last full day here.
We got ready, and went to breakfast in the teachers’ room. Then we went to Chania. In Chania we first went to Starbucks, then I went to Ariel’s Fish Spa to get a foot massage by fish! It might sound weird but it felt amazing and afterward my feet were really soft. After that we went to a restaurant which was very good, the club sandwich was spectacular. Then I went to an ice cream place called Dadoni’s and the ice cream was delicious, I had the strawberry sorbet. Then we met up with the group and went on Captain Nick’s Boat. On his boat we saw goats, fish, and a crashed WW2 airplane. Then we went snorkeling, and Mr. Anthony and I tried to catch fish but ww were unsuccessful. After that we went back to shore and then drove back to our hotel. We had some free time and then went to Bahar for the second time. At Bahar a lot of people got the Carbonara, which was amazing. We celebrated Parkes’ and Anna’s birthdays. We all got dessert and sang happy birthday to them. After that we went back to the hotel and went to bed.

Greece trip 2 day 7

Today we woke up to a beautiful day in Crete. After stretching our arms and legs and getting ready we all joined in the teacher’s room to enjoy breakfast. Then it was off to see the palace of Knossos, home of the Minoan civilization as well as the origin of the greek myth Theseus and the Minotaur. We saw their famous frescoes about their bull related activities such as bull leaping, bull dancing, etc. Then we traveled to the roof of the palace to the arena where all the activities were held. After getting refreshments we loaded up our car and headed to the beach. Everyone was excited to jump into the water, and was running fast because of how hot the sand was. The water was clear blue, and the big waves added onto the fun. Then everyone grabbed a paddle and we started our group game of paddle ball. Mick Stone and Mr. Anthony had the record of 150! After about another hour of fun at the beach we shook out our towels and shoes and then loaded up the car again and we headed back to hotel. We then had some free time at the hotel. After freshening up with long showers we all met at the car to go to dinner at Bahar. The setting was peaceful and pretty. The favorite foods among everyone were the pork fillet stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, and Carbonara with a white cheese sauce and bacon. Everyone laughed and had a good time. Then we all got in the car for the last time and drove to the hotel to rest up for a new day of adventures.

Blog delay

Our apologies for the delay in the blog! Technical difficulties with the Internet at our last hotel have prevented us from staying up to date. However, the kids have kept up with their entries locally, so we should be able to update soon.

Take care,

Greece trip 2 day 6

When we woke up on Sunday we ate breakfast and headed to Acrocornith. Acrocornith was a huge ancient acropolis, and home of the Corinthian column. The old fortress was very high up and only a few brave (and strong) souls made the climb up to the very top. However those that did were rewarded with amazing views of the surrounding area and the Peloponnesian Peninsula.

After refreshing ourselves at a local restaurant, we piled into the vans and headed to Athens. After arriving at the airport, we got onto a plane for the short flight to Chania, Crete. Upon our arrival we rented new vans and headed to our hotel for the night. Once we got there we ate dinner at a near bye restraunt before heading to bed.
